Reconstruction of the palatal aponeurosis with autogenous fascia lata in secondary radical intravelar veloplasty

Smolka k et al. - A clinical case of a 9-year-old boy who underwent the operation is reported. Postoperatively, marked functional improvements were observable in speech assessment, nasendoscopy and nasometry. The case reported here suggests that the restoration of the dead space may be beneficial for effective secondary palatal repair. Fascia lata seems to be a suitable graft for this purpose.
