Karbach J et al. - Smoking is the most important risk factor in the formation of peri-implant mucositis. Radiation therapy is an explanatory variable for the occurrence of inflammation. Implant surface roughness, augmentation at the implant site, and type of dentition have little influence on clinical signs of peri-implant mucositis.
