Barboza-Silva E et al. - The arginine deiminase system (ADS) of oral bacteria is a major generator of alkali (ammonia) in dental plaque and is considered to have anticaries effects. Triclosan, indomethacin, caprate and laurate can reduce ADS activity in dental plaque.
