Trakyal G et al. - The purpose of this study was to evaluate enamel colour alteration of five different orthodontic bonding adhesives by means of digital measurements after exposure to photoageing in order to simulate discolouration of adhesives in vivo. Colour changes of orthodontic bonding systems induced by photoageing cannot be clinically observed. Polishing with Stainbuster eliminates enamel surface roughness, which may improve light reflection.

| One of the main concerns of orthodontic patients is that if there will be a color change after treatment with fixed orthodontic appliances or not. As a result of this study it was concluded that fixed orthodontic appliances don't cause staining on the enamel only if the orthodontist removes the remaining adhesive completely and without leaving any scratches on the enamel. Polishing the enamel after removing the adhesive is also very important in order to gain an esthetic result after fixed orthodontic treatment. |
