Lack of an association between E-selectin gene polymorphisms and the risk of Kawasaki disease
Pediatrics International, 04/18/2012
Shirakawa T et al. – Although they failed to detect any association between these E–selectin gene (SELE) polymorphisms and the prevalence of Kawasaki disease (KD) or the development of CAL, these study had limitations including a low frequency of the minor alleles and a small sample size. A larger–scale association study is needed to draw a conclusion whether these single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) are associated with the susceptibility to KD or not.
