O’Shaughnessy MM et al. – Observational data suggest that secondary preventative implantable cardioverter defibrillator therapy following resuscitated cardiac arrest prolongs the lives of dialysis patients. This intervention may also offer a survival advantage as a primary preventative strategy in end–stage kidney disease. However, competing risk from co–morbidity can negate any perceived benefit.
