Mechanical insufflation-exsufflation in prevention of post-extubation acute respiratory failure: most welcome but be cautious in critically ill patients
Critical Care, 06/22/2012
Rodriguez AME et al - The authors believe that this original study could have an impact on the management and prevention of post–extubation acute respiratory failure (ARF) in a select group of patients. However, owing to the above–mentioned reasons, the use of mechanical insufflation–exsuflation (MI–E) cannot be generalized to all patient populations.
