Combating antibiotic resistance in urinary tract infection
Nurse Prescribing, 10/12/09
Nazarko L et al. – Most antibiotics are prescribed in primary care and urinary tract infection is the most common infection in general practice. Many evidence–based guidelines focus on the selection and duration of antibiotic therapy to treat urinary tract infection, and there is less emphasis of clinical diagnosis. This article addresses diagnosis and treatment of urinary tract infection and how prescribers can contribute to reducing the rise of antibiotic resistance.
