Logters TT et al. - Kynurenine, the major degradation product of tryptophan has been shown to directly damage tissues, but its possible contribution to posttraumatic morbidity is unknown. Both increased kynurenine values and kynurenine-tryptophan ratios predicted posttraumatic development of sepsis and organ failure.
