Blood use in the ambulatory setting among elderly in the United States
Transfusion, 06/22/09
Menis M et al. - The study suggests that most of the ambulatory blood utilization among US elderly is for diagnoses of anemias and neoplasms rather than procedures. The population-based study provides valuable information on ambulatory blood utilization patterns which may be used to better understand the reasons for transfusion in the ambulatory setting as blood use is expected to grow.
