Hamann MF et al. - Despite the high prevalence of genital prolapse, there are only few studies so far fulfilling the strict criteria of evidence-oriented data acquisition. The systematic assessment of common therapy concepts for female genital prolapse and its accompanying pathologies has led to a better understanding of the functional and anatomical background within the last few years. The choice of the operative technique arises from carefully differentiated, interdisciplinary diagnostics and surgery should be performed in experienced centers.
