Historically, the MAC conference takes place every four or five years, providing a forum for discussing significant advances in our understanding of the mechanisms of anesthetics. As has been the tradition in previous years, selected speakers are invited to present at the plenary sessions, in pro-con debates and in round table discussions, which everyone attends. Evening workshops and poster sessions provide opportunities for all delegates to present and discuss their recent results. As for previous conferences, all participants are expected to cover their own expenses.
