Ellison AM et al. – The authors describe experience with pneumococcal bacteremia in pediatric patients with sickle cell disease in the post–heptavalent pneumococcal conjugate vaccine era. Despite established prophylactic strategies, pneumococcal bacteremia continues to occur in patients with sickle cell disease.
