Vitrification of human early cavitating and deflated expanded blastocysts: clinical outcome of 474 cycles
Journal of Assisted Reproduction and Genetics, 11/02/2009
|
Raju GAR et al. – Early cavitating blastocyst would be the ideal stage for cryopreservation of human blastocysts as it has higher survival rate and avoids additional invasive procedures

Noninvasive Thrombolysis Using Pulsed Ultrasound Cavitation Therapy
Ultrasound in Medicine and Biology, 10/27/2009
|
Maxwell AD et al. – Blood clots weighing 330mg were completely broken down by histotripsy in 1.5 to 5min. The clot was fractionated to debris with >96% weight smaller than 5 micro m diameter. Histotripsy thrombolysis ... flow as well as in static saline. Additionally, authors observed that fluid flow generated by a cavitation cloud can attract, trap and further break down clot fragments. This phenomenon may provide a noninvasive method to filter and eliminate hazardous emboli during thrombolysis.

Factors influencing time to smear conversion in patients with smear-positive pulmonary tuberculosis
Respirology, 08/18/2009
|
al. – This analysis revealed that 11.1% of tuberculosis patients remained smear–positive after 2 months of treatment. Patients with cavitation, higher smear grading and those who had not used isoniazid, rifampicin, ethambutol and pyrazinamide continuously in the initial treatment phase

and was not taking any medications...The correct diagnosis is a ruptured aneurysm of the ulnar artery. The aneurysm was most likely formed by cavitation and/or blast forces from the gunshot wound. The patient recalled striking the palm of his left hand on a car door the day the swelling began. This
