Bob Djavana, et al. - In humans, androgens balance cell proliferation and apoptosis, ensuring normal growth and development of the prostate, but also driving pathologic gland enlargement in benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) and prostate cancer. The two main androgens are testosterone and dihydrotestosterone (DHT).
