American Journal of Clinical Oncology, 10/06/09
Tamandani K et al. – This is the first study to provide an evidence for the association of IL-12&beta (1188A/C) gene polymorphism with the risk of cervical cancer.
Methods- DNA isolated from peripheral blood of 200 patients with cervical cancer and 200 healthy controls
- Polymerase chain reaction restriction fragment length polymorphism used for detection of IL-12 &beta (1188A/C) gene polymorphism
- Was observed that genotypes AC increase the risk of cervical cancer
- Strength of risk in passive smokers with AC and AC + CC genotypes increased to more than 2.8 times in comparison with nonsmoker with AA genotype
