Barnett M - Although there is no cure for COPD due to irreversible damage to the lungs there is a great deal that health professionals can offer the patient besides drug management to help slow down the progression of the disease, prevent exacerbations and help to produce significant improvements in individual patient's quality of life. Management of patients with COPD should entail working collaboratively with members of the multidisciplinary team to provide a holistic package of care.
