Carson RC et al. – Dialysis prolongs survival for elderly patients who have ESRD with significant comorbidity by approximately 2 yr; however, patients who choose MCM can survive a substantial length of time, achieving similar numbers of hospital–free days to patients who choose hemodialysis.

I think this is a really important article as it demonstrates not only that MCM is a ligitimate pathway of care which elderly patients may choose when they have advanced CKD but it also helps to inform both health professionals and patients about the likely outcomes of this treatment choice.
