In particular, the role of inflammation in plaque destabilization is not fully understood...Conclusion: Our findings suggest that visfatin should be regarded as an inflammatory mediator, localized to foam cell macrophages within unstable atherosclerotic lesions, that potentially plays a role in plaque destabilization
