Epping MT et al. – Expression of the tumor antigen PReferentially expressed Antigen of MElanoma (PRAME) is a prognostic marker for clinical outcome of breast cancer, independent of traditional clinicopathological markers Methods
Analysis of PRAME gene expression in relation to clinical outcome for 295 primary breast cancer pts
Results
Kaplan–Meier survival curves show correlation of PRAME expression level increased rates of distant metastases and decreased overall pt survival
Correlation found both for entire pt group (295 pts) and subgroup (185) who did not receive adjuvant chemotherapy
Multivariable analysis showed PRAME as an independent marker of shortened metastasis-free interval in pts who did not receive adjuvant chemotherapy
PRAME expression was associated with tumor grade and negative estrogen receptor status
