Therefore, we investigated changes in cortical excitability during anovulatory and ovulatory cycles...Conclusions: The results suggest fluctuations in cortical excitability during anovulatory cycles, possibly due to the withdrawal of `excitatory' oestrogens that initiate menses in anovulatory cycles
