Guglielmo WJ - In simple terms, P4P is a system of quality incentives aimed at changing or enhancing physician performance. On the private side, its primary drivers are the big purchasers who want the health plans they contract with to do something to incentivize the right kind of care. On the public side, doctors participating in the government's Physician Quality Reporting Initiative have the chance to boost their Medicare payments by 1.5 percent.
